What hypnotherapy can help with.

Described plainly, without the promises that give this field a bad name. If what you are dealing with is not here, ask — the list is not the limit.

The everyday ones
Most people arrive with one of these.
Stress and anxiety

The tight chest, the racing head, the sense that something is about to go wrong for no reason you can name. Hypnotherapy works on the pattern underneath it rather than arguing with the thought on the surface.

Trauma and post-traumatic stress

Intrusive memories, hypervigilance, nightmares, the startle you cannot talk yourself out of. Approached slowly, with your control over the pace, and alongside your medical or mental health care rather than instead of it.

Low mood and hopelessness

When the weight has been there long enough that it feels like a personality rather than a condition. Work on the beliefs holding it in place, and on reconnecting you to things that used to matter.

Sleep

Trouble falling asleep, waking at three and staying awake, dreading the bedroom. One of the areas where hypnotherapy has the best evidence behind it and often the fastest results.

Grief and loss

A person, a marriage, a career, an identity. Grief is not a problem to solve, and the work is not about getting over it - it is about carrying it in a way that lets you live.

The loss of an animal companion

A specific, trained specialty. The bond with an animal can be as deep as any other, and its loss brings a grief people are often embarrassed to admit is this big. It is that big, and it is taken seriously here.

Relationships and family conflict

Communication that has stopped working, trust after infidelity, a family that has divided into camps. Individually or together.

Habits and addiction

Smoking, vaping, and the patterns you have decided to be done with. Hypnotherapy has a genuine track record with smoking cessation in particular.

Confidence and performance

Public speaking, competition, exams, the interview. Getting the training you already have to show up when it counts.

Isolation and life transitions

Job loss, retirement, divorce, an empty house, a move. The transitions that quietly rearrange who you think you are.

Health and wellbeing
Where hypnotherapy fits alongside medical care.

Hypnotherapy is not a cure for disease, and nobody should tell you it is. What it does well is the part of illness that medicine often has least time for - how you cope, how you sleep, how much pain you notice, and how you carry the fear that comes with a diagnosis.

Pain

One of the strongest evidence bases in the field. Hypnotherapy can change how much pain you perceive and how much of your attention it takes, which is not the same as removing its cause.

Living with a diagnosis

Chronic illness and serious diagnoses bring anxiety, dread and sleeplessness of their own. Those are the parts this work is for.

Treatment-related stress

Anticipatory anxiety before procedures, difficulty with scans, and the nausea and tension that stress makes worse.

Smoking and vaping

Cessation is one of the best-established uses of hypnotherapy, and one of the clearest wins for your long-term health.

Read this part carefully

To be direct about it: hypnotherapy works alongside your doctor, never instead of your doctor. Mark is a certified hypnotist, not a physician or a licensed mental health provider, and he will not ask you to stop or delay any treatment you are receiving. If a problem needs medical or psychiatric care, you will be told so.

Grief does not need fixing. It needs carrying differently.

Grief does not need fixing. It needs carrying differently.

For a person, a marriage, a career, an identity — or an animal who was family. There is specific training here for that last one, and it is taken as seriously as any other loss.

The loss of an animal companion
The grief people apologize for.

People lower their voice when they say it was "just" a dog. There is no just. For a lot of people that animal was the steadiest relationship in the house, the reason to get up, the one who was there for the worst year of their life.

The Empty Leash is a specific, trained approach to exactly this grief — the guilt about the last decision, the silence in the house, the feeling that you are not allowed to be this wrecked. You are allowed.

If you are in crisis right now

If you are in crisis, call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, 24 hours a day. Veterans can press 1. In an emergency, call 911.

Hypnotherapy is good work and it is not emergency care. If you are in immediate danger, the number above is the right call to make first. When you are safe, this is here and Mark will not be shocked by anything you tell him.
