The questions people are too polite to ask.

Mostly some version of "is this real, and are you going to make me quack like a duck." Fair. Here are straight answers.

Will I lose control, or do something I would not normally do?

No. That is stage hypnosis, and it is entertainment. In a session you are awake, aware, and able to speak, move or stop at any moment. You will remember it. Hypnosis is a state of focused attention, closer to being absorbed in a film than to being asleep, and you cannot be made to do anything you would refuse to do otherwise.

What does it actually feel like?

Most people describe it as deeply relaxed but very clear-headed - the state you pass through just before sleep, held steady and used deliberately. Some people feel heavy, some feel light. Almost everyone is surprised by how ordinary and how comfortable it is.

Does it work on everyone?

Most people can be hypnotised, and willingness matters far more than personality. What varies is depth and pace. If it turns out not to suit you, you will be told that honestly rather than sold more sessions.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on what you bring. Some things - smoking, a specific fear, a sleep pattern - often move in a handful of sessions. Trauma and grief take as long as they take, and the pace is yours. You will get an honest estimate after the first session, not a package you have to buy up front.

Is this therapy? Is Mark a therapist?

No, and this is important. Mark is a certified hypnotist and a graduate of the Hypnosis Motivation Institute. He is not a licensed psychologist, psychiatrist, counselor or physician, and hypnotherapy here is not psychotherapy and not medical treatment. It works well alongside those things, and if what you need is one of them, you will be told so.

Can it help with a medical condition?

It can help with how you cope with one - pain, anxiety, sleep, the stress around treatment. It is not a cure for disease and it is not a reason to stop or delay anything your doctor has prescribed. Anyone who tells you otherwise about hypnosis is selling something.

Do you work with veterans?

Yes, and it is the reason the practice exists. Mark served nine years in the Army and came home carrying what a lot of you are carrying. He has completed specific trauma-informed training in hypnosis for PTSD. You will not have to explain the context.

Do you see couples, or families?

Yes. Couples work, family conflict, and the aftermath of infidelity - together or individually, whichever is going to work.

Will you see my teenager?

Yes, with a parent or guardian involved from the first conversation and consent in place before any session.

Does it work over video?

Yes. What matters is your attention and a quiet, private hour, not which room you are in. Plenty of clients are seen entirely online.

What happens in the first conversation?

You talk, and Mark listens. What brought you, what you have already tried, what you want to be different. No hypnosis, no commitment, no charge. At the end you will have an honest view of whether this is likely to help you.

Is what I say kept private?

Yes. What you bring to a session stays there. The limited exceptions are the ordinary ones - a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, or a legal requirement - and they will be explained to you up front.

Still unanswered?
Ask him directly.

The first conversation is free, and questions are exactly what it is for.
